Umbilical hernia
An umbilical hernia is a protrusion in the abdomen that occurs when a portion of the bowel or surrounding fat pushes through a weak spot in the muscles. It is common for infants to be born with an umbilical hernia. Typically, the main sign is a soft swelling or lump at the belly button. In infants and children, umbilical hernias can vary in size, from small ones about the size of a pea to larger lumps measuring around 2cm in diameter.
