About Mr Muhammad Hanif Shiwani

Mr Muhammad Shiwani is a leading consultant general and laparoscopic surgeon based in Leeds and Barnsley. With over 25 years of experience, Mr Shiwani’s areas of expertise include gallbladder disease, endoscopy (including gastroscopy and coloscopy), hernia, acid reflux and gastro-oesophageal disease, rectal bleeding and lumps and bumps. Mr Shiwani first qualified with his MBBS from the Dow Medical School in Karachi, Pakistan. He then continued his education in Europe, receiving qualifications at prestigious institutions in the UK, Ireland and France. This includes multiple FRCS qualifications from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Ireland and Glasgow, and a Masters in Clinical Education from the University of Edinburgh. Mr Shiwani currently practices at the Spire Methley Park Hospital in Leeds. He has an excellent record at this hospital, with a review of his practice in 2012 showing that his infection rate and return to theatre rate are zero per cent. He is also a consultant general and laparoscopic surgeon at the Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. In addition to his clinical work, Mr Shiwani is a renowned medical educator. He is currently a senior clinical lecturer at the University of Sheffield. He has also published numerous medical articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
