About Mr Jason Ramsingh
Mr Jason Ramsingh is a consultant general and endocrine surgeon based in Newcastle. He specialises in conditions affecting the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands. He is a high-volume endocrine surgeon performing over 200 endocrine surgery operations per year. In addition to his endocrine surgery practice, he also has vast experience in hernia and gallbladder surgery having performed over 600 of these operations throughout his career to date. Mr Ramsingh attended the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, where he obtained his MBBS in 2009 and was awarded the prize for most outstanding student in surgery. He completed a MSc in surgical oncology at the University of Glasgow, where he graduated with distinction in 2013. He underwent higher surgical training in the west of Scotland and obtained his CCT in 2019. He completed a fellowship in endocrine surgery at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle in 2020 and was appointed as a consultant surgeon since then. Mr Ramsingh has won several awards during his career. He was awarded the ASGBI Gold Medal and the GB Ong medal from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for placing 1st in the FRCS final exam. He was granted a robotic travelling fellowship by ASGBI/Intuitive in 2021 and has established a robotic adrenal surgery service in Newcastle, one of the first endocrine surgery units in the UK to offer this new technology to patients. He has co-authored over 25 publications on topics related to endocrine and general surgery and has been an invited author for several book chapters. He currently serves as the clinical director for surgery at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
