About Mr Ashok Menon
Mr Ashok Menon is a leading consultant upper GI and general surgeon who currently practises at both The Alexandra Hospital and the Spire Regency Hospital. Mr Menon completed his medical education at Cambridge University and pursued advanced surgical training in complex upper GI, bariatric, and general surgery across the North-West, Leeds, and London. This training included a one-year fellowship in bariatric surgery in Liverpool before he became a consultant. His areas of expertise focus on minimally invasive techniques for treating acid reflux, hiatus hernias, and achalasia. He has collaborated with a team of upper GI surgeons to establish the primary NHS provider of complex benign UGI surgery in the South-East region of Greater Manchester and beyond. For six years, he has served as the trust clinical lead for upper GI cancer, spearheading significant team expansions and introducing innovative methods such as ‘Transnasal OGD’ within the trust.
