About Ms Rana Madani
Ms Rana Madani is a consultantcolorectal and general surgeon based in Chertsey, Surrey, who specialises in laparoscopicsurgery, colorectal cancer and benign colorectal diseases alongside proctology,colonoscopy and hernias. She privately practises for Runneymede Hospital - part of Circle Health Group and her NHS base is Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Ms Madani is interested in enhanced recovery as part of her clinical work, focusing on safe and early recovery of patients after major abdominal and bowel resection surgery. She is experienced in management of piles (haemorrhoids), anal fissure and anal fistula. She is an accredited colonoscopies and experience in removal of polyps. She underwent specialist higher surgical training in colorectal and general surgery in Kent/Surrey/Sussex Deanery. Her basic surgical training took place at the Northern Deanery. She was awarded MD (Res) from University College London (UCL) in 2009 for her research on surgery and obesity. In between these achievements, she received a fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2014. Following her completion of surgical training, she acquired further experience in complex resectional surgery in patients with recurrence of colorectal cancer during her fellowship at the globally-renowned Peritoneal Malignancy Institute (PMI) at Basingstoke Hospital. She increased her laparoscopic experience in colorectal resections during her fellowship at Frimley Park Hospital, performing high-volume laparoscopicbowel resection. Ms Madani's clinical research has been published in many peer-reviewed journals and presented in numerous national and international meetings. She also has a keen interest in teaching, passing on her knowledge as a supervisor to MD students.
