About Mr Ahmed Elshaer
Mr Ahmed Elshaer is a consultant general and upper GI surgeon practicing in Yorkshire. He specialises in minimally invasive procedures for gastrointestinal conditions, including gallbladder surgery, hernia repair (all types of hernias), anti-reflux surgery, treatment of diaphragmatic and hiatus hernias, weight loss (bariatric) surgery, achalasia, oesophageal motility disorders and gastric and oesophageal cancers. His expertise also encompasses advanced endoscopic techniques and surgical management of biliary and pancreatic diseases, bowel and splenic conditions, trauma, acute emergencies, and minor surgical procedures. Additionally, Mr Elshaer is highly skilled in advanced robotic surgery, with significant experience in robotic techniques for Upper GI disorders. In addition to his clinical work, Mr Elshaer has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and serves as an assistant professor of surgery at Cairo University Hospital. He is a reviewer for several high-impact medical journals, an approved GMC trainer, and a faculty member in various Royal College of Surgeons courses. He also holds the position of Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds since March 2025.
