About Mr Alfredo Tonsi
Mr Alfredo Tonsi is a highly esteemed consultant general and colorectal surgeon with a distinguished focus on the surgical management of inflammatory bowel disease, bowel cancer, and a variety of benign proctological conditions. His expertise extends to complex anal fistula, haemorrhoids, anal pain, and rectal prolapse. Mr Tonsi's surgical skills are diverse, incorporating both laparoscopic and open techniques for abdominal wall hernias, including those related to inguinal hernias. His journey in surgical training began with Higher Surgical Training in London and the South West Thames region, where he received extensive education in advanced minimally invasive surgical methods. He continued to enhance his expertise through specialised training in complex anal fistula and inflammatory bowel surgery at prestigious institutions such as St Mark’s Hospital, St George’s, and St Thomas’ Hospital in London. Beyond his clinical and research achievements, Mr Tonsi is recognised nationally as a trainer in colonoscopy, having obtained accreditation from the JAG Endoscopy Training System. This role underscores his commitment to educating the next generation of medical professionals. Currently, Mr Tonsi leads the Surgical Division for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
