Mr Naga Venkatesh Jayanthi is a consultant robotic and laparoscopic general, upper gastrointestinal (GI) and bariatric surgeon in Chelmsford, Central London, Colchester, Brentwood, and Southend-on-Sea. He specialises in the diagnosis and surgical management of acid reflux, hiatus hernia, gallstones, hernias, bariatric surgery and endoscopic procedures, as well as treating oesophageal cancer and stomach cancer. He privately practises at Nuffield Health St Bartholomew's Hospital, Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital, Chelmsford Health Centre, Springfield Hospital, Oaks Hospital and Spire Wellesley Hospital, while his NHS base is Broomfield Hospital at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. Mr Jayanthi graduated from Bangalore Medical College & Research Institute, University of Bangalore, which is among the top universities in India and undertook research at the University of Oxford on stem cells and diabetes, earning his postgraduate doctorate (MD). He was also awarded the prestigious David Dunn Travelling Scholarship by ALSGBI, enabling him to visit world-renowned surgeons in Japan and India. The advanced techniques he studied on these travels have been applied to his own practice, where he has pioneered several approaches in complex surgery. Mr Jayanthi has presented videos of his specialised operations at national and international conferences and serves as faculty on keyhole surgery courses at the Royal College of Surgeons.
