Mr Amir Darakhshan is a leading consultant colorectal and general surgeon who is based in London. He specialises in inflammatory bowel disease and rectal bleeding and is also renowned for his expertise in anal fistula surgery, haemorrhoid surgery, colonoscopy procedures as well as hernia. Mr Darakhshan graduated from King's College Hospital London and received his surgical training in London and the South East of England. He also received his specialist colorectal training at the Concord Repatriation General Hospital in Sydney, St Thomas' Hospital, University College Hospital, St Mark's Hospital and King's College Hospital, London, where he developed his interests in Pelvic Floor disorders, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Laparoscopic surgery. He is a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland and the Pelvic Floor Society and a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Awarded a Doctor of Medicine in 2008, Mr Darakhshan's thesis at the Royal London Hospital explored the use of the Gracilis Neosphincter for treating incontinence. He has published on general surgical, colorectal and pelvic floor disorders.
