Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) can impact various parts of your urinary system, including cystitis (a bladder infection), urethritis (an infection of the urethra), and kidney infections. While antibiotics can be used to treat UTIs, they are not always necessary. Common symptoms of a UTI may include changes in urination, such as increased frequency or urgency. Your urine might also appear darker or have a strong odour. If this is your only symptom, it could simply indicate that you're not consuming enough fluids. In older individuals, particularly those who are frail or have cognitive issues like dementia, as well as in those with a urinary catheter, additional symptoms of a UTI may also arise.
