About Mr Krishnan Anantharamakrishnan
Mr Krishnan Anantharamakrishnan is a consultant urological surgeon in Nottingham, with extensive experience in managing bladder pain, erectile dysfunction, and urinary incontinence, alongside prostate cancer, urinary tract infections, benign prostate enlargement, interstitial cystitis and prostatitis. He privately practises at Woodthorpe Hospital and his NHS base is Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Mr Anantharamakrishnan, whose practice covers the full spectrum of general urology, with particular expertise in lower urinary tract symptoms, bladder pain, benign prostatic disease and urological cancers, qualified in medicine in 1990 and went on to complete a Master’s degree in general surgery before undertaking extensive specialist training in urology in the Mersey region. He also completed laboratory-based research in stone disease in Manchester and received specialist paediatric urology training at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. His advanced training includes urinary reconstruction in Mansoura, Egypt and Berne, Switzerland, as well as urogynaecology experience in Dallas, Texas. He holds multiple postgraduate qualifications, including an MSc in Urology from University College London, FRCS (Urology), FEBU from the European Board of Urology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He is a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons. During his NHS career, he has played a key role in developing local urology services, including establishing a dedicated urinary incontinence service and a paediatric urology service, as well as introducing local anaesthetic injection treatments for bladder conditions. Alongside his clinical work, Mr Anantharamakrishnan has a strong interest in education and service development. His broad training and long-standing consultant experience allow him to provide comprehensive, evidence-based urological care, with a focus on accurate diagnosis, patient education and tailored treatment for both benign and complex urological conditions.
