Meniscus tear (knee cartilage damage)

A meniscus tear is a frequent injury affecting the cartilage in the knee. This cartilage sits between the bones in the knee joint and serves to cushion them during movement. A meniscus tear often occurs when you twist your knee while participating in sports, but it can also result from less severe injuries, such as twisting while standing up.
