Urinary incontinence
Urinary incontinence refers to the involuntary leakage of urine, a widespread issue believed to impact millions of individuals. There are various forms of urinary incontinence, including stress incontinence and urge incontinence. Some people may experience a combination of both types. When to seek medical help
If you experience any form of urinary incontinence, it's important to see a GP. This is a common issue, and there’s no need to feel embarrassed discussing your symptoms. Taking this step can help you find effective ways to manage the condition. A GP can typically diagnose urinary incontinence during a consultation by asking about your symptoms and may perform a pelvic examination (for those with a vagina) or a rectal examination (for those with a penis). Additionally, they might recommend that you keep a diary to track your fluid intake and urination frequency. You may also be referred to a specialist for further tests.
