Gallstones

Gallstones are tiny stones that develop in the gallbladder. Many individuals with gallstones do not experience any symptoms. However, if you do have pain in your abdomen due to gallstones, surgery to remove your gallbladder may be necessary. The gallbladder is a small organ located in the upper abdomen that aids in the digestion of food. Gallstones can occur in the gallbladder or in the bile ducts, which are narrow tubes that link the gallbladder to other organs like the liver and pancreas. While gallstones are quite common and typically asymptomatic, they can lead to abdominal pain if a gallstone obstructs a bile duct.
