Atrial fibrillation

Atrial fibrillation, often referred to as afib or AF, is a condition that affects the heart's rhythm, causing an irregular heartbeat. If you suspect you might have it, it's important to consult your GP. The primary symptoms of atrial fibrillation can vary; in some cases, there may be no symptoms at all, and the condition is discovered during a routine examination or while undergoing tests for another issue. When symptoms do occur, they might come and go spontaneously (known as paroxysmal atrial fibrillation) or may cease following treatment (referred to as persistent atrial fibrillation).
