About Dr Charles Butcher
Dr Charles Butcher is a dedicated consultant cardiologist based in Dorset, practising at The Winterbourne Hospital, The Poundbury Clinic and Dorset Heart Clinic. He specialises in cardiac rhythm management, with particular expertise in arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, pacemaker and defibrillator implantation, and catheter ablation. He is the Arrhythmia Lead at Dorset County Hospital and also performs advanced ablation procedures at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Dr Butcher trained at the Royal Free and University College London Medical School before completing a PhD at Imperial College London, where his research focused on optimising cardiac resynchronisation therapy pacemakers for patients with heart failure. He completed his general cardiology training and an electrophysiology fellowship at leading London teaching hospitals including Harefield, St Bartholomew’s and Great Ormond Street, gaining extensive experience in complex heart rhythm disorders. Throughout his career, Dr Butcher has presented his research at national and international conferences and published in respected journals. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, the British Heart Rhythm Society and the European Society of Cardiology. Committed to patient-centred care, he treats a wide range of cardiac conditions including heart failure, hypertension and cardiomyopathy, providing advanced therapies for rhythm disorders and other complex cardiac issues.
