About Dr Christopher Hayes
Dr Christopher Hayes is a leading consultant cardiologist based in York, practising at Spire Leeds Hospital, Nuffield Health York Hospital, and The Duchy Hospital. He specialises in electrophysiology and complex device implantation, with particular expertise in the management of syncope, atrial fibrillation, and dysrhythmias. Dr Hayes is also experienced in the treatment of heart failure, including the use of pacemakers and advanced pacing techniques, and regularly assesses patients with breathlessness and other related symptoms. Dr Hayes graduated with a MUDr degree in 1998 from Charles University in Prague. He went on to complete specialist training in cardiology and electrophysiology in Oxford, followed by a fellowship in Bournemouth, further refining his expertise in complex arrhythmia management. He also spent time training at a renowned electrophysiology centre in Dublin, gaining valuable international experience. He is highly skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of palpitations and abnormal heart rhythms, with a particular interest in pacing therapies for heart failure. In addition to his clinical work, Dr Hayes is trained in echocardiography, including transoesophageal echocardiography, as well as diagnostic angiography. He is a consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist at York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he leads the heart failure service. Dr Hayes is a member of several leading professional organisations, including the Royal College of Physicians, British Cardiac Society, Heart Rhythm UK, the European Society of Cardiology, the European Heart Rhythm Association, and the British Society of Echocardiography.
