About Ms Rashmi Yadav

Ms Rashmi Yadav is a highly skilled consultant cardiac surgeon based in London and Guildford. With expertise in complex mitral repair, minimally invasive beating heart repair, mitral valve repair, minimally invasive endoscopic coronary artery surgery, complex coronary revascularisation, and atrial fibrillation ablation, Ms Yadav commenced her medical studies at Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, where she graduated with an MBBS in 1994. She then pursued further specialisation, achieving the prestigious fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS (CTh)). Her commitment to advancing her knowledge led her to Imperial College London, where she earned a PhD. Additionally, she holds a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) from Zurich University. Ms Yadav completed her cardiac surgical training in the North West Thames deanery from 2004 to 2011, gaining valuable experience as a specialist registrar at renowned hospitals such as Heart Hospital, St George's, Hammersmith, and Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals. During her training, she undertook a fellowship in minimally invasive cardiac surgery at the Robert-Bosch-Krankenhaus in Stuttgart, Germany, under the mentorship of Professor Ulrich Franke. Beyond her clinical expertise, Ms Yadav actively engages in research. She served as a task force member for the 2018 guidelines on myocardial revascularisation by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS). These guidelines, updated every four years, are internationally acknowledged as a key source of clinical guidance for individuals with coronary artery disease. Her notable contributions include a co-chair position at the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery (ISMICS) residents’ and fellows’ committee, where she plays a key role in organising mentorship opportunities for surgical residents and fellows. Furthermore, she is a member of prestigious organisations such as the European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery, Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery and the European Society of Cardiology.
