About Dr Niket Patel

Dr Niket Patel is a consultant interventional cardiologist practising at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, where he serves as Clinical Lead for Cardiology, as well as at several private hospitals and specialist clinics across London. He specialises in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions and his areas of expertise lie in chest pain, breathlessness, interventional cardiology, advanced imaging, arrhythmia and heart failure. Dr Patel's main goal is to deliver excellent care to his patients, putting them all at the heart of his decision-making process. His years' of training in London and Oxford has provided him with a wealth of expertise that allows him to expertly manage all diseases and conditions related to the heart. He has a special interest in cardiac intervention (the use of minimally invasive techniques to diagnose and treat heart disease), with particular expertise in complex coronary angioplasty (stent placement in heart arteries) and transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI or TAVR), a cutting-edge procedure for treating aortic stenosis without the need for open-heart surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London. Dr Patel is passionate about training the next generation of doctors and is responsible for training specialist doctors in both cardiology and cardiac intervention. Being actively involved in cardiac research positions him at the forefront of his medical field. Overall, he has authored over 50 scientific publication in peer-reviewed journals and is an investigator for numerous international trials. His principal areas of research are in coronary physiology, microvascular function, intra-coronary imaging and myocardial infarction.
