About Mr Max Baghai

Mr Max Baghai is a distinguished consultant cardiothoracic surgeon based in London. His areas of expertise include congenital cardiac surgery, minimal access surgery, heart valve surgery, and endoscopic mitral valve repair. Mr Baghai consults privately at Cleveland Clinic London Hospital. With over 25 years’ experience, he also serves as clinical lead in cardiac surgery for King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where he practises since 2012. Additionally, Mr Baghai is the network clinical lead for the South London Cardiac Surgery Network. Mr Baghai qualified from Imperial College London in 1996, obtaining an MBBS and an intercalated BS in Pathology. His basic surgical training took place at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and he completed his higher specialist training with the renowned London Deanery. Mr Baghai was later awarded a British Heart Foundation clinical fellowship in 2002 to complete a PhD in Cardiovascular Science at King’s College London. In 2011, Mr Baghai was awarded the prestigious Ethicon scholarship by the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons, which enabled him to pursue an international fellowship in Hong Kong, where he acquired proficiency in complex cardiac and minimal access surgery. On his return, Mr Baghai went on to help establish the minimal access programme in cardiac surgery at King’s College Hospital.
