About Dr Matthew Foxton
Dr Matthew Foxton is a highly experienced consultant hepatologist and gastroenterologist with private clinics at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Chelsea Outpatient Centre and Chiswick Medical Centre. Among his areas of expertise are the treatment of fatty liver disease and hepatitis, using FibroScan, endoscopies and interpreting abnormal liver function tests. Dr Foxton qualified from St George’s Hospital Medical School in 1995 and undertook specialist training in gastroenterology in South East London, where he gained sub-speciality accreditation in hepatology in 2007. He was awarded an MD from the University of London in 2009, following the submission of his thesis on hepatitis C recurrence after liver transplantation. Dr Foxton was appointed as gastroenterology consultant at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich in 2007 and took up a post as consultant hepatologist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and King's College Hospital in 2010. In 2011 he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. He has a particular interest in new treatments for viral hepatitis, early detection of liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma. He has contributed to numerous publications, some of which can be seen on PubMed.
