About Professor Keith Gomez
Professor Keith Gomez is a consultant haematologist at the Cleveland Clinic London Hospital. His expertise is in the treatment of deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolisms, and iron infusions. Professor Gomez studied St Thomas’ Medical School of the University of London, and graduated in 1992. He undertook haematology during the North London training programme, after which he became part of the Haemostasis Research Group of the Medical Research Council. He completed his doctorate, in the development of models of tissue factor-initiated blood coagulation, in 2006 at the Imperial College London. In 2007, Professor Gomez became a professor in haemostasis at the Haemophilia Centre and Thrombosis Unit at the Royal Free Hospital of London, where he runs clinics for patients with bleeding and clotting disorders. He has previously been the president of the British Society for Haemostasis and Thrombosis. He has particular interest in the genetic basis of inherited disorders of coagulation, the diagnosis and management of platelet disorders and the clinical management of the rarer factor deficiencies
