About Dr Gurdip Azad
Dr Gurdip Azad is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist who works in London and Bromley, specialising exclusively in prostate cancer treatment. Her practice focuses on precision radiotherapy using the latest image-guided techniques, including: Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT/SABR) delivered in 5 fractions MR-Linac Adaptive Radiotherapy, where treatment is personalised in real time for accuracy VMAT/IMRT advanced external beam radiotherapy Radiotherapy for oligometastatic and oligoprogressive disease, offering highly individualised treatment pathways tailored to each patient’s needs. To help protect bowel and bladder function, Dr Azad routinely uses techniques such as SpaceOAR hydrogel when appropriate, aiming to reduce side effects while maintaining treatment effectiveness. Whilst her NHS base is at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in London, she privately practises at Genesiscare Cromwell Hospital, HCA healthcare London Bridge Hospital and HCA Healthcare Guy's Hospital. Dr Azad completed her Clinical Oncology training across several major London Cancer Centres, including Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, North Middlesex Hospital, the Royal Free Hospital, University College London Hospital and the Royal Marsden Hospital. She joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ as a consultant in 2019 following the completion of her research degree, which focused on molecular and functional imaging in Cancer and this was published through the King’s College London research portal. She has received international recognition for her research, including the Alavi–Mandell Award for excellence in molecular imaging. Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Azad is deeply engaged in medical education. She serves as adjunct Senior Lecturer in the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences at King’s College London, Deputy Training Programme Director for clinical oncology trainees in South East London and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the GKT School of Medical Education. Under Dr Azad, patients are cared for within a supportive multidisciplinary team, ensuring treatment decisions are thoughtful, well-coordinated and personal to each individual’s goals and lifestyle. Dr Azad’s current research interests include SBRT, advanced imaging techniques for treatment planning, management of recurrent and post-treatment prostate cancer and the development of artificial intelligence tools to support outcome prediction in prostate cancer. Her combination of clinical expertise, academic leadership and commitment to innovation supports her delivery of modern, evidence-based oncological care for patients with prostate cancer.
