About Professor Charles Marshall

Professor Charles Marshall is a highly accomplished clinical neurologist who is currently the Clinical Director for Dementia for NHS London. Additionally, Professor Marshall serves as a consultant neurologist at Barts Health NHS Trust and East London NHS Foundation Trust. He currently practises at London Bridge Hospital - part of HCA Healthcare. He is a renowned expert in the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive disorders, including in new disease-modifying amyloid targeting therapies for Alzheimer’s disease such as Donanemab and Lecanemab Professor Marshall heads the dementia research at the Centre for Preventive Neurology. The dementia team's work includes early detection and diagnosis of dementia through various methods such as digital, blood, and neuroimaging biomarkers, as well as addressing health inequalities and studying dementia epidemiology. Professor Marshall, who successfully completed a bachelor's degree in neuroscience at the University of Oxford in 2003, then went on to achieve an MBBS and a PhD at University College London. He has, to date, published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and publications, and his main areas of expertise are dementia, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, memory disorders, Lewy body disease, frontotemporal dementia, and mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
