Labial fusion

Labial fusion, also referred to as labial adhesion, occurs when the small inner lips surrounding the vaginal opening stick together. In certain instances, this can lead to a complete closure of the vaginal opening, with only a tiny space at the front for urine to pass through. This condition is relatively common in girls under the age of 7 and is generally not a cause for concern. The exact cause of labial fusion is not well understood, but it may occur due to irritation or inflammation in the vaginal area, a condition known as vaginitis.
