About Mr Himanshu Sharma
Mr Himanshu Sharma is a highly experienced consultant orthopaedic spinal surgeon with expertise in the management of complex spinal conditions. His clinical practice focuses on treating patients with back pain, leg pain, neck pain and arm pain, using both surgical and non-surgical approaches. He is skilled in minimally invasive spinal surgery, lumbar discectomy, spinal decompression, spinal fusion and cervical spine surgery. He consults privately at Nuffield Health Plymouth Hospital, providing high-quality care tailored to each patient’s needs. Mr Sharma completed his specialist registrar training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in Glasgow and went on to undertake spinal fellowships in Newcastle upon Tyne and Sheffield. He served as a locum consultant at Western Infirmary, Glasgow before joining Derriford Hospital, Plymouth in 2012, where he currently works as a consultant orthopaedic spinal surgeon. His clinical interests also include vertebral body augmentation, adult deformity, spinal trauma, tumours and infections. With a strong passion for education, Mr Sharma is actively involved in teaching medical students, postgraduates, general practitioners and physiotherapists. He has delivered over 150 scientific presentations and published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles in the fields of spine, trauma and orthopaedics. He is a member of numerous professional organisations, including the British Orthopaedic Association, British Association of Spine Surgeons, British Scoliosis Society and AO Spine.
