Brucellosis
Brucellosis is an infection that can be contracted through unpasteurised milk and cheese or by coming into contact with infected animals. In the UK, it is quite uncommon. The primary way of acquiring brucellosis is by consuming milk or dairy products made from the milk of infected animals that have not been pasteurised (a process that heats the milk to eliminate bacteria). There are also rare instances where brucellosis can be transmitted in other ways. It is extremely unlikely to catch brucellosis from another person.
