About Mr Haroon Rehman
Mr Haroon Rehman is a highly respected Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with extensive experience in the management of hip and knee conditions, including complex joint replacement surgery. He practices privately at Spire Murrayfield and Shawfair Park Hospitals in Edinburgh, and at Kings Park Hospital in Stirling. His NHS practice is based at the Fife Orthopaedics National Treatment Centre and Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. He is recognised for his high surgical volume, evidence-based practice, and strong commitment to safe, patient-centred care. Mr Rehman specialises in hip and knee replacement surgery, with particular expertise in modern techniques designed to enhance recovery. He also provides a comprehensive range of treatments for musculoskeletal conditions, including knee arthroscopy (keyhole surgery), platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, and steroid injections. He manages a broad spectrum of orthopaedic problems affecting the bones, joints, muscles, and soft tissues, tailoring treatment plans to each patient’s individual needs and long-term goals. Mr Rehman graduated in medicine from the University of Aberdeen and completed a Master’s degree alongside his clinical training. He undertook his specialist orthopaedic training through the North of Scotland Orthopaedic Training Programme, gaining wide experience in both trauma and elective surgery. He subsequently completed the prestigious John Charnley Fellowship at Wrightington Hospital, an internationally renowned centre for hip and knee replacement surgery. He has also completed a national travelling fellowship in robotic hip and knee replacement, reflecting his interest in innovation and advanced surgical technology. In addition to his clinical work, Mr Rehman holds significant leadership responsibilities as the governance lead for trauma and orthopaedic surgery at NHS Fife. In this role, he oversees patient safety, clinical quality, and service improvement, with a particular focus on reducing surgical waiting times and optimising care pathways. Mr Rehman is deeply committed to medical education and training. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Dundee and previously served as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen. He teaches and mentors medical students and junior doctors, with an emphasis on technical skill, clinical judgement, and professionalism. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers, awarded early in his consultant career in recognition of his contribution to surgical education.
