About Dr Ben Warner
Dr Ben Warner is a leading consultant gastroenterologist based in London. His areas of expertise include dyspepsia, abdominal pain, colitis, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) such as Crohn’s disease, and abnormal liver function tests. He also has a special interest in hepatobiliary medicine. Dr Warner consults privately at The Blackheath Hospital. With over 19 years’ experience, he also practises for Darent Valley Hospital, as well as Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. At Darent Valley Hospital, Dr Warner serves as the clinical lead for upper gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary cancer and also runs weekly hepatobiliary and hepatology clinics. Notably, Dr Warner is an advanced endoscopist. He performs 200 endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatographies (ERCP) every year, alongside other therapeutic endoscopic procedures, as well as gastroscopy and colonoscopy (with polypectomy). Dr Warner graduated from The Royal Free and University College London Medical School in 2006. He undertook the majority of his medical training in the South East of England and then pursued a research fellowship at Guy’s and St Thomas’, focusing on IBD. Dr Warner received his MD in 2020 from King’s College London for his work on thiopurine-induced liver toxicity. Since then, he has remained involved in research and clinical trials, including the IBD Bioresource Study. He has also authored more than 80 research papers and abstracts. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Warner is passionate about medical education and is a senior lecturer at the Kent and Medway Medical School. He holds esteemed membership to the Royal College of Physicians.
