About Mr Alex Jones

Mr Alex Jones is a consultant plastic surgeon based in North Yorkshire and the Tees Valley. He has expertise in a wide range of reconstructive and cosmetic surgery procedures including breast enlargement (augmentation), breast reduction (mammaplasty) and breast lift (mastopexy), alongside tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), facelift (rhytidectomy), nose reshaping (rhinoplasty), eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) and mummy makeover (combined breast and abdominoplasty surgery). His cosmetic private practice is located at the Nuffield Health Tees hospital in Stockton-on-Tees and the Ramsay Tees Valley Hospital in Middlesborough, while his NHS practice is located at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton. (Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust). Mr Jones provides a comprehensive plastic surgery service encompassing both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. He has extensive expertise in head, neck and facial reconstruction following cancer or trauma, as well as breast reconstruction for women following breast cancer treatment where DIEP flaps are the most popular reconstructive choice. He is a fully trained microsurgeon, enabling him to carry out complex procedures involving delicate tissue reconstruction. His regular practice includes breast surgery for conditions such as breast asymmetry, low volume breasts, overly large breasts, developmental abnormalities and post-pregnancy or post-weight loss changes such as breast droop (ptosis). He also performs body contouring procedures including all the different types of abdominoplasty (from mini to 180°, 270° and 360° techniques), liposuction, arm lifts and thigh lifts for patients following weight loss or pregnancy. These include so called “mummy makeover” techniques where combinations of breast and tummy surgery are performed simultaneously. He has experience in lipomodelling, using fat grafting techniques to improve contour deformities of the breast and face. He is well known for his aesthetic facial work including face and neck rejuvenation with a range of different face and neck lifts (from mini to full), open rhinoplasty and eyelid lift surgery (blepharoplasty). Mr Jones completed his medical degree at the University of Leeds in 2004 and holds MRCS and FRCS (Plast) qualifications from the Royal College of Surgeons. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and the British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists (BAHNO). He is board certified with the Royal College of Surgeons for all areas of aesthetic and cosmetic surgery, meaning he has received comprehensive training in these areas and has an extensive logbook having safely undertaken large numbers of these cases. In his NHS role, he contributes to the management of complex trauma cases at James Cook University Hospital, the regional major trauma centre. He is also an active trainer of future plastic and head and neck surgeons across the north east of England. He is an examiner for the FRCS (Plast exam) for the Joint committee on Intercollegiate Examinations (JCIE). He has contributed to the plastic surgery literature, including co-authoring the Essentials of Plastic Surgery, Q&A Companion as well as other related book chapters and scientific papers. Mr Jones is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centred care, developing safe and personalised treatment plans in collaboration with his patients.
