About Mr Georgios Pafitanis

Mr Georgios Pafitanis is a distinguished consultant plastic surgeon based in London. His practice is split between his private clinics, The Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS trust, and University College London Hospital. His private practice focuses on reconstructive microsurgical procedures for the lower extremity, body, abdomen and head and neck. His aesthetic surgery practice focuses on the reconstructive aspects of aesthetic plastic surgery. Within the NHS he specialises in complex lower extremity reconstruction following trauma and at University College Hospital where he performs complex head and neck reconstruction after cancer surgery. Mr Pafitanis has trained in some of the most prestigious microsurgical fellowships in Taiwan, Tokyo, Seoul, and the St Thomas Hospital in London, and further refined his skillset in aesthetic surgery at the London Clinic and Stockholm, Sweden. Mr Pafitanis has a strong interest in research and microsurgical education. He completed his PhD, in the field of reconstructive microsurgery in London. He maintains strong academic practice and he is the editor of a microsurgical free flap book. He has published over 100 scientific articles, presented his work internationally and received several prestigious awards in microsurgery, such as the Robert Zhong award (2016), the ESPRAS Fellow award (2019) and EURAPS Young Plastic Surgeon award (2021). He has contributed as leading author in more than 20 chapters in the field of lower limb, head and neck, perforator flaps, lymphatic surgery, and microsurgery training. He is the editor of the book ‘Core Techniques in Flap Reconstructive Microsurgery’, published in 2023, by Springer Press Nature (Europe). Mr Pafitanis is listed on the GMC specialist register and is a full member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS).
