About Mr Abd-Allah El Ashmawy
Mr Abd-Allah El Ashmawy is a highly reputable consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist focus on trauma and conditions affecting the hip and knee. His expertise includes hip and knee arthroplasty, covering total and partial joint replacements, periprosthetic fractures, and complex revision procedures. He also has a particular interest in knee arthroscopy and sports-related knee injuries. In 2018, Mr El Ashmawy was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons. He went on to undertake his first senior arthroplasty fellowship at University Hospitals Plymouth, receiving advanced training in hip and knee replacement as well as trauma surgery. He subsequently completed a prestigious knee and hip fellowship at the internationally recognised Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, where he further honed his skills in partial and total knee replacements, revision knee surgery, joint infection management, knee arthroscopy, and ligament reconstruction. His final senior fellowship took place at King’s College London University Hospitals, with a continued focus on hip and knee arthroplasty and complex trauma, including pelvic and acetabular injuries. In addition to his clinical practice, Mr El Ashmawy is actively involved in research, with multiple publications and presentations at international conferences. He holds both a Master’s and a PhD in Orthopaedics, with his doctoral research centred on the use of metaphyseal augments in revision knee surgery. His additional roles include serving as the audit lead for the Trauma and Orthopaedic department, clinical supervisor for medical students at Peninsula Medical School, reviewer for The Journal of Arthroplasty, and Lecturer in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Alexandria.
