Lazy eye
A lazy eye, known medically as amblyopia, occurs when vision in one eye does not develop as it should. In some cases, both eyes can be impacted, but this is uncommon. A lazy eye often doesn't present noticeable symptoms and is frequently identified during an eye examination. Many children may not realise there is an issue with their eyesight. To assess a younger child's vision, you can cover each eye with your hand, one at a time. They might express discomfort if their stronger eye is covered.
Common symptoms:
Headaches
Shutting 1 eye or squinting when looking at things
Eyes pointing in different directions (a squint )
Not being able to follow an object or person with your eyes
Tilting your head when looking at something
Having tired eyes and rubbing your eyes a lot
Difficulty catching or throwing
Tripping or falling over a lot
Blinking a lot
