Cytomegalovirus (CMV)

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a widespread virus that is typically benign. However, it can lead to complications in newborns and individuals with weakened immune systems. Most people with CMV are unaware they are infected, as it often does not produce any symptoms. In some cases, the initial infection may cause flu-like symptoms, but these usually resolve on their own within approximately three weeks without the need for treatment.
