Cholesteatoma
A cholesteatoma is an accumulation of dead skin cells in the ear, which may lead to hearing loss, tinnitus, and dizziness. Although it is uncommon, it can be treated effectively through surgery. Typically, a cholesteatoma affects only one ear. In rare cases, an infection from a cholesteatoma can result in serious complications such as a brain abscess or meningitis. These conditions can indicate a stroke, which requires immediate medical attention.
