About Professor Ying Cheong

Professor Ying Cheong is a skilled specialist in reproductive medicine and surgery with extensive training and experience in both the clinical and surgical treatment of infertility. Professor Cheong is highly specialised in reproductive surgery, using both laparoscopic (minimally invasive) and open techniques in the treatment of patients with fertility problems. Professor Cheong sees and manages patients presenting with a wide range of gynaecological problems, her areas of interest including endometriosis, recurrent miscarriage, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and adhesions. Professor Cheong is actively involved in research in embryo development and nutrition, and sits on several clinical trial steering committees. She has served as a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians scientific advisory committee, and as the lead for the local clinical research network. She has been featured in numerous publications and is involved in a number of active clinical trials. In addition to her research and clinical practice, Professor Cheong is also actively involved in education and training, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. In 2008, she was appointed as Senior Lecturer at the University of Southampton, where she now serves as co-ordinator for final year medical student teaching in obstetrics and gynaecology.
