Professor Vikas Malik is a renowned Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon based in Bolton, Greater Manchester, and Lancashire. Professor Malik graduated from Lucknow University in India, which is an outstanding institution of medical excellence in education, research, and patient care. He then completed a three-year Master’s (MS) in ENT and Head and Neck Surgery and was awarded the Best Candidate award. Professor Malik undertook a further three years of training as a Senior Resident in Otology and skull base surgery at SGPGIMS, which is a prestigious super-speciality tertiary care hospital. He was also awarded the title of Diplomate of National Board (DNB) by an autonomous academic body under the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as well as Membership of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS) by the Indian National Academy, which fosters academic medical excellence. He subsequently relocated to the UK, where he completed his ENT training in Northwest England and Cambridge. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Completion Certificate of Training by the UK Joint Committee on Higher Surgical Training. He is on the GMC Specialist Register with a Licence to Practice. The GMC has recognised him as an ENT Surgical Trainer and Supervisor. He is the Lead for Clinical Governance, Audits, Research, and Education for the ENT department at Royal Bolton Hospital and the Head of Simulation at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust. Additionally, he serves as the Director of Simulation and Technology-Enhanced Learning at Greater Manchester Medical School and holds an Honorary Professorship at the University of Greater Manchester. He has also been awarded fellowships from the Royal Society of Public Health and the Academy of Medical Educators in the UK. He has recently been appointed to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh's Surgical Specialty Board for Otolaryngology, which supports, advises, and assists the College in specialty-related matters.
