About Mr Thomas Hunter
Mr Thomas Hunter is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon based in Chester, Cheshire, specialising in hip replacement, knee replacement and partial knee replacement, alongside robotic surgery, knee arthroscopy. He privately practises at Nuffield Health Chester, The Grosvenor Hospital, and his NHS base is Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, where he is the clinical director for trauma and orthopaedic surgery and a substantive consultant in trauma and orthopaedic surgery at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. Mr Hunter completed his medical degree at the University of Manchester in 2007 before undertaking foundation training in the Oxford deanery. He gained experience in plastic surgery and trauma and orthopaedic surgery during his core surgical training before securing a place on the Stoke/Oswestry orthopaedic higher surgical training programme. Throughout his training, he presented at national conferences and published research in international peer-reviewed journals. He developed a strong interest in medical education and completed a Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma in Medical Education, as well as a Master’s degree in Evidence-Based Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. Following his specialist training, he completed a fellowship at the internationally renowned Wrightington Hospital, a centre of excellence for hip and knee surgery. He is a clinical supervisor for surgical trainees from the Wales and Stoke/Oswestry higher surgical training programmes and an honorary clinical lecturer for Cardiff and Bangor University. His approach to patient care focuses on enhanced recovery after surgery, with an emphasis on clear communication and personalised treatment plans.
