Mr Theodore Valsamakis is a consultant ENT surgeon in Leicester with expertise in paediatric ENT, rhinology, ear infections, nasal obstruction, tonsillectomy, neck lumps and tongue tie. He privately practises at Nuffield Health Leicester Hospital, while his NHS base is University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust where he is a consultant ENT surgeon and Head of the ENT department. His clinical practice spans the full breadth of general and specialist ENT care, with extensive experience in paediatric and adult conditions. His subspecialist skills include neck lump biopsy and excision, nasal and sinus procedures, inferior turbinate surgery, branchial and thyroglossal cyst management, nasal bone manipulation, flexible nasendoscopy and paediatric endoscopy. He has expertise in otomicroscopy, allergy skin prick testing, nasal cautery, intratympanic injections, grommet insertion, lesion biopsy, endoscopic myringoplasty and coblation turbinoplasty. He also performs advanced sinus surgery techniques, including frontal sinus surgery, sphenoidotomy and balloon sinuplasty, and treats a wide range of ear, nose and throat disorders such as congenital ear anomalies, recurrent infections, airway issues in children, nasal foreign bodies, inverted papilloma and salivary gland disease. In his NHS role, Mr Valsamakis leads the ENT service and provides care for paediatric ENT patients and adults with complex rhinological conditions. His background includes higher surgical training in ENT completed in 2013, followed by fellowships in head and neck surgery, rhinology at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow and paediatric airway surgery at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. He has worked in Leicester since 2016 and continues to contribute to service development, teaching and clinical governance. He is actively involved in medical education as a clinical supervisor at University Hospitals of Leicester, a speaker at regional airway meetings and a faculty member on advanced endoscopic sinus surgery courses. He also holds the position of clinical audit lead within his organisation. Mr Valsamakis is a member of multiple professional bodies, including the British Society of Rhinoplasty Surgeons, the British Rhinology Society, the European Rhinology Society, the European Society of Paediatric Otolaryngology, the General Medical Council and several Greek medical associations. His qualifications include FEB(ORL-HNS) from the European Board of Head and Neck Surgery, FRCS(Glasg) from the Royal College of Surgeons Glasgow, an MSc in International Medicine and Management of Health Crisis and his MBBS from Democritus University of Thrace, Komotini, Greece.
