About Mr Tanweer Ashraf

Mr Tanweer Ashraf is a highly accomplished consultant knee surgeon based in Birmingham, practising at The Harborne Hospital (HCA Healthcare UK), The Priory Hospital (Circle Health Group) and The Stourside Hospital. He specialises in knee replacement and partial knee replacement, ACL reconstruction, meniscal repair, and patellofemoral (kneecap) disorders, as well as sports-related knee injuries. He is widely recognised as the regional expert on kneecap problems and provides expert, personalised care for both routine and complex knee conditions. He completed his medical degree at Aligarh Muslim University before pursuing specialist orthopaedic training in the UK. His advanced fellowship training in knee surgery was carried out at the internationally recognised Avon Orthopaedic Centre in Bristol. Mr Ashraf has also undertaken visiting fellowships at specialist centres in the USA and Germany, gaining extensive experience in cartilage restoration and ligament reconstruction. His approach to care is founded on precise diagnosis and individualised treatment planning, delivered in close collaboration with specialist physiotherapists, radiologists and orthotists. Mr Ashraf is a leading figure in education, research, and professional development. In education, he co-convenes the Birmingham Patellofemoral Instructional Course and Birmingham Patellofemoral Masterclass, and is a founding member of The Birmingham Knee School, training both national and international knee surgeons. In research, he supervises projects on cartilage transplant surgery and collaborates with centres across Europe. In professional organizations, he is a founding member of the British Patellofemoral Society, and in clinical service development, he established the Regional Patella Multidisciplinary Clinic.
