About Dr R Srinivasa Raghavan
Dr Srinivasa Raghavan (known as Srini, Dr Raghavan) is a senior consultant in audio vestibular medicine & neuro-otology with over 30 years of experience. He is the lead consultant physician for etiological investigations of babies identified with hearing loss from new-born hearing screening in the region. He also offers full etiological investigations and management of hearing loss, tinnitus, dizziness, vertigo, and balance disorders in any age group, from newborn to older adults. Training and multidisciplinary scope Following his MBBS, Dr Raghavan developed his clinical skills across trauma and orthopaedics, general and neurosurgery, before completing a three-year postgraduate training with diploma in Otolaryngology (ENT). He then moved to the UK for a higher specialist training and passed diploma to become a member of Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS). He then completed the five-year Specialist Training programme in audio vestibular medicine (AVM). As part of the training, he worked in: acute medicine, geriatrics, and gastroenterology. He has also completed secondments in developmental paediatrics, ophthalmology, psychiatry, psychology, and medical genetics. He completed his MSc in audio vestibular medicine at University College London, and his thesis was on Auditory Processing Difficulties (APD) in Children. He acquired the bulk of his neuro-otology training at the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery (NHNN), Charing Cross Hospital (CXH) and GOSH. He started his consultant post at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool, where he helped to establish the department before moving to the Royal Surrey Hospital, Guildford. Dr Raghavan provides a comprehensive AVM service for all age group (adult and pediatric). He carries out vestibular diagnostic testing (vHIT) as part of a thorough clinical assessment in his (private & NHS) clinics. He allocates 30 – 40 minutes for a new/initial consultation and aims to provide a holistic assessment. Personal interests and approach Dr Raghavan has a long-standing interest in yoga, having participated in a three-week camp (Yoga Shibir) during his undergraduate medical degree. He enjoys gardening and likes to cook in his spare time.
