About Dr Shobhit Baijal

Dr Shobhit Baijal is a consultant medical oncologist based in Birmingham and an Honorary Professor at the University of Birmingham. He is an expert in the management of lung, bowel, and livercancer, utilising techniques of immunotherapy, chemotherapy, and targetedtherapy. Dr Baijal qualified from the University of London in 2001 and undertook training at St Bartholomew’s Medical School while completing a bachelor’s degree with honours in immunology and cell pathology at the University College London. He was appointed as a consultant at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust in 2011. In addition to his practice, Dr Baijal is heavily involved with clinical research and trials. He is the UK Chief and principal investigator for multiple national and international studies, and works closely with pharmaceutical companies to develop new drugs for patient treatment. He also has extensive publications under his name, which he has presented at regional, national, and international cancer conferences. He is an invited medical expert for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) reviews of anti-cancer drug therapies and is a steering committee member of the British Thoracic Oncology Group, which supports and educates thoracic oncology professionals in the UK. Dr Baijal advises for charities EGFR Positive UK and ALK Positive UK, and is on the expert panel for the Roy Castle Foundation.
