About Dr Richard Sarsam
Dr Richard Sarsam is a highly experienced gastroenterologist based in Windsor, Berkshire since 2002. He specialises in therapeutic colonoscopy including EMR of large polyps, gastroscopy and enteral stenting, ERCP, and hepatobiliary disorders. He is an expert at diagnosing the causes of rectal bleeding, abdominal pain, change in bowel habit and dyspepsia (indigestion) as well as treating a large number of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). He is an accredited national bowel cancer screening colonoscopist since 2008 and the upper GI cancer MDT lead for Wexham Park Hospital. He trained extensively in gastroenterology and endoscopy in both the South and North Thames Deanery, which included working at the Royal Free Liver Unit for 18 months and a two year research post at Guy's Hospital, London researching the role of bacteria in colon cancer and gallstones. Dr Sarsam is based at Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor but also consults and performs endoscopic procedures at Circle Hospital Reading and Mount Alvernia Hospital Guildford. He performs around 1800 endoscopic procedures annually and has introduced both video capsule endoscopy of the small intestine and bravo capsule insertion at endoscopy for 48-hour pH monitoring to BMI The Princess Margaret Hospital.
