About Professor Rajesh Bagtharia

Professor Bagtharia is a highly experienced Consultant Paediatrician at Nuffield Hospital, Brentwood, with exceptional expertise in paediatric cardiology. He provides care for patients from newborns to adolescents, managing full spectrum of childhood health from routine concerns to complex and critical illnesses. His daily practice includes the care and follow-up of extremely preterm and term babies, the assessment and treatment of acutely unwell children, and the outpatient management of all paediatric conditions. He offers compassionate care and strives to provide best possible evidence based treatment. He has specialist training in neonatal intensive care and comprehensive expertise spanning across all paediatric subspecialties, including respiratory, allergy, dermatology, neurology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, kidney, liver, rheumatology, infectious diseases, A/E and community paediatrics – He offers a truly holistic approach to child health. His specialist strength lies in paediatric cardiology. He completed a prestigious fellowship in paediatric cardiology at the world-renowned Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and the training was further consolidated at Evelina Children’s and Great Ormond Street Hospital. He is certified by the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging. Over the course of his career, he has performed more than 30,000 paediatric echocardiograms, bringing unparalleled technical skill and diagnostic accuracy. His cardiology practice includes the evaluation and management of congenital heart disease, murmurs, chest pain, palpitations, syncope, ECG interpretation, and cardiac imaging for both simple and complex conditions. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery before completing postgraduate paediatric training at one of Asia’s largest university teaching hospitals. He subsequently broadened his experience through advanced training in Birmingham, London and Toronto at leading tertiary paediatric centres. He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and the Royal College of Physicians and is an Honorary Consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital. He serves as an examiner for both undergraduate medical students in medical school and postgraduate trainees at the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health. In addition, he is an educational supervisor for resident doctors and an appraiser for fellow consultants. His leadership roles have included Clinical Director of Child Health and Director of Medical Education at BHR University Hospitals. A recipient of eight NHS Clinical Excellence Awards, he is deeply committed to ongoing professional development.
