About Dr Paul Ferguson

Dr Paul Ferguson is a consultant haematologist practising at The Harborne Hospital, with his NHS practice at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. His clinical practice spans both malignant blood cancers and a wide spectrum of benign haematological conditions. He has a strong subspecialist interest in myeloid and lymphoid malignancies as well as bone marrow transplantation. Within the Trust, he serves as the lead clinician for haematology and acute oncology. Known for his patient-centred approach, Dr Ferguson is committed to providing the highest standards of care. Dr Ferguson began his medical training at the University of Birmingham, following a first-class honours degree in biomedical science and a PhD in cancer research, with a particular focus on molecular biology. He undertook the majority of his specialist haematology training at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where he was also appointed as an academic clinical lecturer. In this role, he combined clinical responsibilities with ongoing research, concentrating on early-phase clinical trials, bone marrow transplantation, and genetic studies of acute myeloid leukaemia. His research was carried out at both the University of Birmingham and Oxford University. Dr Ferguson has contributed to numerous high-impact scientific publications and has been recognised nationally with an award for his research achievements.
