About Ms Natasha Spiteri

Ms Natasha Spiteri is a consultant ophthalmologist with Newmedica Shrewsbury. She has expertise in cataracts and cataract surgery, dry eyes, blepharitis, corneal transplants, and the general scope of eye problems. Ms Spiteri qualified from the University of Malta in 2004 and came to the UK to undergo training in the Mersey region, after which she spent a year in Sydney, Australia to complete further specialist training in corneal diseases, transplants, and other corneal surgeries. In 2017, she returned to the UK, taking up a post at the Countess of Chester Hospital, where she is the lead cornea specialist. She subsequently completed a postgraduate diploma in cataract and refractive surgery at the University of Ulster. In addition to her clinical practice, Ms Spiteri is a passionate medical educator. Having just stepped down as College Tutor at the Countess of Chester Hospital for 6 years, she has been appointed as Training Programme Director for Ophthalmology in Cheshire and Mersey. She is regularly involved with cataract and microsurgical training courses at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, and has been involved in research work into newer alternative techniques for corneal transplant surgery.
