About Professor M. Kamran Baig
Professor M. Kamran Baig is an esteemed consultant cardiologist based in Nottingham. He specialises in interventional cardiology, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia, cardiac CT and MRI scans, and shortness of breath. Professor Baig treats complex cardiac valve disorders with TAVI, percutaneous valve implantation, and complicated electrical cardiac disorders with implanted automatic defibrillator and cardiac re-synchronisation device therapies. He practises at Consult Health Care and the Spire Hospital, both in Nottingham, in addition to holding an honorary role as a consultant interventional cardiologist at Royal Brompton Hospital, London and Glenfield Hospital, Leicester. He has gained over 30 years' experience in interventional cardiology, both in the UK and abroad and has delivered treatments in over 30 hospitals in more than 20 countries and performed the first ever TAVI treatments in Western Saudi Arabia (2012), South Korea (2015), Singapore (2015), Pakistan (2015) and Hong Kong (2016). Professor Baig is an Associate Professor of Cardiology at the University of Nottingham. His research work has previously identified new methods of early diagnosis of familial dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). He has published over 40 papers, abstracts, books, chapters and review articles. Since 1995, he has given over 100 lectures at international, national, regional, intra-hospital and primary care institutions. He has experience of training cardiologists and has designed interventional cardiology training VR simulators. He has received multiple awards for his research. Professor Baig is a collegiate fellow member of the Royal College of Physicians of London, fellow member of both the American College and European Society of Cardiology, and a member of the British Cardiac Society.
