About Dr Martin Maher

Dr Martin Maher is a distinguished consultant obstetrician with a specialisation in high-risk pregnancy and foetal medicine, committed to enhancing outcomes for women with complex pregnancies. He possesses extensive expertise in ultrasound practice. Since becoming a consultant in 2016, he has transformed the local foetal medicine unit into a regional referral center. In 2017, he established the Placenta Clinic to support women experiencing foetal growth restriction, and in 2019, he launched the Rainbow Clinic for women who have suffered a previous pregnancy loss. Currently, Dr Maher serves as the clinical director of obstetrics and gynaecology, the clinical lead for maternity across the Lancashire & South Cumbria region, and the ultrasound training lead for the North West School of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. He has also represented North West England on the Council of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RCOG) and contributed to numerous publications at local, national, and international levels.
