About Mr Justin Leong

Mr Justin Leong is a renowned consultant in trauma and orthopaedic surgery, with a particular focus on sports injuries as well as hip and knee surgeries. He has completed two esteemed fellowships at Wrightington and Northumbria University Hospitals, where he performed complex primary joint replacements and revision surgeries for failing joint replacements. Additionally, he is interested in enhanced recovery protocols and same-day discharges following joint replacement procedures. His current practice involves managing sports-related knee injuries, including meniscal and ligament injuries. He also specialises in joint preservation surgery, unicompartmental (partial) knee replacements, total hip replacements, and total knee replacements. Mr Leong employs a muscle-sparing approach for hip replacements (specifically the piriformis muscle), which promotes faster recovery and improved function during post-operative rehabilitation. His published research has concentrated on infection prevention in joint replacement surgeries and enhancing knee rehabilitation after such procedures. Furthermore, he is the lead author of the Revision Hip Complexity Classification (RHCC), developed in collaboration with experts from the British Hip Society to aid in the national restructuring of complex hip revision surgery networks.
