About Dr John D Hung

Dr John D Hung is a consultant cardiologist at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital specialising in the investigation and treatment of coronary artery disease. His clinical practice focuses on the assessment of chest pain, advanced coronary stenting procedures (percutaneous conorary intervention), and the optimisation of cardiovascular risk factors such as cholesterol, blood pressure, and diabetes to reduce the risk of future cardiovascular events. Dr Hung undertook a period of dedicated advanced training in complex coronary intervention, developing expertise in modern coronary stenting techniques used to treat challenging blockages in the heart arteries. He regularly performs coronary angiography and PCI, including the treatment of complex coronary disease, with a strong emphasis on accurate diagnosis and personalised treatment planning. Alongside his clinical work, Dr Hung is actively involved in cardiovascular research and innovation. He is chief investigator on clinical research studies and collaborates with academic and industry partners to develop new diagnostic technologies aimed at improving the detection and management of heart disease. His research background includes a PhD in cardiovascular science from the University of Edinburgh. Dr Hung is also committed to medical education and training. He serves as a Royal College tutor and is actively involved in teaching and mentoring doctors in cardiology and interventional techniques. He regularly contributes to national and international cardiology meetings and educational programmes.
